Gottlieb's Wipe Out (1993) features an extreme snow sports theme including skiing and snow boarding. The playfield contains a pinball first - an actual ski lift which carries the ball to the top of a "ski slope". At the top, the ball enters a start gate to a downhill slalom course where, using the flipper buttons, the player attemts to guide the ball down the marked slalom course! Great fun, and one of the best Gottlieb pins of this era!
In addition to the ski lift and downhill slalom course, Wipe Out features an attractive playfield layout which includes drop targets, spot targets, hurry up extra balls, ramps, and kick out holes. With the ski lift, slalom course, and competitors excited voices, Wipe Out really captures the exhilaration and excitement of winter based extreme sports. The excellent sound package includes a barking St Bernard, an announcer's voice describing the various events, catchy music, and even a comical German ski instructor who suggests "Maybe I should call your mother to help you ski!" and insults you with "You're snow plowing!"
Wipe Out is an exciting and fun pinball. It has been restored to its factory fresh condition to keep you coming back again and again for more thrills and chills in the snow!
